The Mind operates on many levels of consciousness at the same time, far beyond our capacity to comprehend. Most people are only aware of the conscious mind that they believe they are in control of. Here is a question that I pose to you: "Do you have control of your thoughts?". Most people would answer in the affirmative, which at one time I also would. It safe to say that if you thought of a beach you could picture it in your head, think of a moving your arm and it happens. The illusion of control will make any one person think that this question is a foolish one. However, if you truly had control over your thoughts you would never forget anything. Ever been in mid conversation and failed to recall the topic or a persons name, or a phone number? We all have. Even if you sit and try to recall that information for hours it still wont come to you until that moment when doing something completely different it pops into your mind without your command. Thats because command of the mind is like I said before, merely an illusion.
Why is it that we cant think of something when we want? Are our thoughts our own?
The other level of operation would be the unconscious mind which we often are unaware of when it is active, because it becomes active when we sleep or day dream. The unconscious mind I argue is the most powerful level of operation. It controls autonomously everything necessary for life such as our heartbeats, our breathing and every internal function.
This is the other 90% of the brain that goes untapped by the average person. What happens in this part of the mind? What is there that could actually be of use to us that we arent able to make available? Even more importantly, how can we tap into it?
